SEP IRA

What is SEP IRA?

A Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) IRA is a retirement plan for self-employed individuals and small-business owners. Contribution limits are higher than standard IRAs — the lesser of 25% of compensation or $69,000 in 2026. Funds in a SEP IRA can be rolled over into a self-directed Gold IRA following standard IRA rollover rules; the Gold IRA itself remains a Traditional IRA from a tax perspective.

Why does sep ira matter for Gold IRA investors?

SEP IRAs are common funding sources for Gold IRAs because the high contribution limits build substantial balances quickly. Rolling a SEP IRA into a Gold IRA follows trustee-to-trustee transfer rules and avoids the once-per-year limit that applies to indirect rollovers between Traditional IRAs.
